Responding to an Enquiry

Booking Enquiry stage
When you receive a booking request from an owner, most times they’ll give you general information about their pet and their expectations for the booking. This should give you a basic understanding of what is required and the breed and personality of the owner’s pet or pets.
\
Here are some key points to keep in mind when you receive a booking request.
\
- Consider the information the owner has provided and the information available on the pet’s profile. Does the pet sound like a good fit and vice versa? Will I be able to provide the service type requested?
- Always ask important questions before progressing the booking. It’s much better to discuss any dealbreakers beforehand (eg if you have a toddler and the dog isn’t good with children). Let the owner know if there are circumstances that may affect the booking such as your work schedule or you're looking after another animal at the same time as their enquiry.
- Always take an owner’s assessment of their own pet with a grain of salt. Many times an owner will see their pet through rose-colored glasses and this is one reason why a Meet and Greet is imperative. For example, the pet may have good re-call with their owner but until you meet the pet, you will not know whether they will come when you call them.
- Be cautious if an unfamiliar owner or fellow sitter asks you to provide any personal information or contact details upfront. We recommend keeping communication on the platform and only exchanging contact information when you feel comfortable. If you have any doubts that a booking is a legitimate request or if you feel uncomfortable with correspondence from an owner, please contact Mad Paws for help.

Extra tips – Keep in mind, you’re not only approving a pet for a booking you’re also approving the owner and their quirks and expectations.
