# How does Mad Paws verify their Pet Sitters?

The Mad Paws team prides itself in creating the best possible pet sitting community. One of the ways we achieve this is through our **unique and personalised three-step verification** **process!**


**The Verification Process is as follows:**

### **Step 1: Application Form**

Before a Pet Sitter can begin the approval process, they must fill in an application form. This gives us vital information about the sitter, their experience with pets and their location. This ensures that we get to know the pet sitter personally, ensuring that owners only deal with pet sitters the Mad Paws team trusts.


### **Step 2: Identity Verification**

After they have passed the Online Training Course, Sitters must upload a copy of an in-date form of Identification on the website. For privacy reasons, only the Mad Paws team can see this form of ID. This ID must contain a photo of the Sitter, their full name and a birth date, three pieces of information vital to guaranteeing the identity of the sitter.


### **Step 3: Review by the Mad Paws Team**

After a Pet Sitter uploads all relevant documents and completes an application, their profile will be personally checked by the Mad Paws Team. This check is extremely thorough, checking their profile photo, online certificate, application information, phone number, email address, identification, residential address and service prices. The Mad Paws team then has ultimate discretion in approving a Sitter.


We also highly recommend all of our pet sitters to get a [Police Check](https://police-check.madpaws.com.au/checked/). Once a pet sitter has submitted their Police Check and we have reviewed it, they will receive an additional Police Check badge on their profile. Pet Owners can keep an eye out for pet sitters who have completed this step.


After our Pet Sitters have been approved, we continue to evaluate their performance on an ongoing basis based on their response rates, average response time, service rating and reviews. If we notice that a pet sitter fails to comply with our policies or quality standards, their profile will be removed from the Mad Paws website.
